The city is growing, and we need your ideas to plan for a diverse, liveable, and sustainable Fremantle city centre.

What is a City Plan?

A City Plan is a comprehensive urban design and strategic planning process that outlines our city's spatial vision, objectives, and strategies for sustainable growth and development over the next 10-20 years. Our City Plan aims to:

  • Establish a cohesive spatial blueprint guiding the city centre’s development for the next two decades.
  • Increase the residential population within the city centre.
  • Coordinate major projects, enhance infrastructure, and attract investment.
  • Create a well-connected, secure, and pedestrian-friendly urban environment.
  • Enrich our city's cultural assets while preserving its rich heritage.
  • Identify specific precincts within the city centre, significant place-based projects, and innovative development proposals.

How can the community influence the project?

We are asking the public to:

  • Share feedback by completing the City Plan survey.
  • Consider and compare key city precincts and the broader City Plan area across a range of strategic issues and priorities.
  • Contribute strengths, weaknesses or opportunities for different areas of the city centre through the interactive map.
  • Share any examples of relevant city centre plans and examples that we should be looking at to inform the project.
  • Help form an agreed community brief for the City Plan.

Aboriginal Engagement

Specific engagement is currently underway to connect with Aboriginal people representing Elders and Traditional Owners via workshops and focused conversations that ensure a First Nations perspective is captured and incorporated into the project.
