What can fig tree wood be used for?

Fig tree wood is relatively soft and due to its fibrous nature and high sap levels can be difficult (but not impossible) to use for carving or wood working purposes. Please bear this in mind when submitting your EOI.

Who can apply to receive the wood?

Any individual or community group can apply although preference will be given to individuals and groups within the Fremantle area.  Preference will also be given to proposals which have some level of artistic merit or community benefit, as opposed to uses of a commercial nature.

When will the wood be available?

We expect to be removing the two trees in early October 2018 although a final date has yet to be set.

Can you deliver the wood to me?

No. You will need to make arrangements to pick-up the wood using your own transport and at your own expense. We expect the wood will be available either on-site from Kings Square or at a location nearby.

Who will decide who gets the wood?

An internal panel made up of City officers will assess the EOI’s and make a decision on how the wood is allocated and to whom. The panel’s decision will be final.

Who can I contact to find out more?

For enquiries please contact the City’s Parks and Landscapes team on info@fremantle.wa.gov.au or call Manager Parks & Landscapes Ryan Abbott on 94329999.
