The City is seeking your comments on proposed amendments to existing Local Planning Policy 3.16: Burt Street

At the 1 July 2026 Planning Services Committee Meeting amendments to the following local planning policy was endorsed by Council for advertising:

  • Local Planning Policy 3.16: Burt Street

The proposed changes are outlined below:

Architectural Expression, Articulation and Dwelling Design

This policy requirement has been slightly shortened and requirements that duplicate the Residential Design Codes Volume 2 have been removed

Open Space

This has been merged with the above policy requirement and shortened in length. Provisions that are either now superseded or duplicate other policy requirements have been removed for brevity

Corners

This section has been merged with what is now Clause 2.7 and shortened

Development Context

This policy requirement has only been modified to change “must” to “should” as per current State requirements for local planning policies

Site Planning

This policy requirement has been deleted as it is now entirely superseded by the Residential Design Codes (R-Codes) Volume 2

Existing Tree Retention

Many of the policy requirements have been superseded by both Local Planning Policy 2.26 – Tree Protection and the R-Codes Volume 2. As such, this policy requirement has been substantially shortened in length

Public Domain Interface

This policy requirement has been shortened where possible to remove duplication with other R-Code Volume 2 and policy requirements

Car Parking and Vehicle Access

This policy requirement has been significantly curtailed as many of the provisions replicate the R-Codes Volume 2

Building Facades

This policy requirement has been shortened where possible

Roof Form

This policy requirement has been deleted as it is now entirely superseded by the R-Codes Volume 2

Building Services

This policy requirement has been deleted as it is now entirely superseded by the R-Codes Volume 2

Appendix

Updated to incorporate councillor amendments to Building Requirements diagram (verge parking and landscaping) and include map of current tree canopy
