Engagement concluded

Thank you for sharing your views on the proposed plan for renewing the public space in Kings Square.

The concept plan has been revised and will be presented to council in March 2018, with a summary of the feedback and comments we received during the consultation process from the stakeholders and community.

Our vision and previous engagement

The Kings Square renewal will see the heart of Fremantle transformed into a thriving community, retail and commercial hub by 2019. Our vision for the public space in Kings Square is to provide a high quality public space which accommodates a wide range of uses, from occasional major civic events to regular markets, and quiet contemplation.

The draft concept design is underpinned by the Kings Square Urban Design Strategy, developed in 2012 following extensive analysis and community engagement. The strategy prioritises pedestrian space, slowing vehicles, maintaining some parking, activating the edges and reinforcing the square's historic urban character.

Draft concept design

To help you understand the draft concept design, we have identified key locations within the Kings Square public space such as the civic square and things that apply across the entire public space, such as the design principles.
