Survey: Community Safety & Crime Prevention Plan

The City of Fremantle is preparing a refreshed and updated Community Safety & Crime Prevention Plan (CSCP) that aims to address community safety concerns, track changes and provide collaborative strategies to improve crime management, mitigation and prevention.

We are asking the public to:

  • Find out about the City's community safety resources and crime prevention strategy by reading the FAQs and Key Documents.
  • Submit your input by completing the Community Safety & Crime Prevention Plan Survey.
  • Contribute feedback on what's working and what could be done differently.
  • Provide best practice examples of community safety and crime prevention strategy from other local governments or entities.
  • Request to meet with city staff to discuss your thoughts on the CSCP via a 1:1, group meeting, or community precinct meeting (details on the main page).

A hard copy of the survey can be sent or picked up upon request by emailing the Community Engagement team here: communityengagement@fremantle.wa.gov.au

Submissions close 5pm AWST 6 October, 2025.

Safety varies considerably, and different people have different ideas on safety. The categories used in this survey are:

Safe: Your life has been free from physical assault, burglary, car break-ins, etc. for at least 2 years. Adverse events are limited, e.g. occasional hooning outside your house, occasional noisy parties nearby or being shouted at by strangers.

Medium Risk: In the last 12 months you have had a single experience of burglary or car break-in, significant theft (more than $100) and/or a superficial physical assault without bodily harm. Other adverse experiences might include frequent (multiple times a week) hooning outside your home, weekly experience of nasty comments shouted at you in the street by strangers.

Unsafe: It the last 12 months you have experienced at least one physical assault causing bodily harm, or ongoing personal experience of physical and or emotional abuse and threats; or multiple burglaries or multiple car break-ins or thefts in the last 12 months.

Very unsafe: Frequent (daily, weekly) experience of serious assault and/or credible threats of death and/or bodily harm. Frequent theft of your belongings.
