The City of Fremantle Community Health and Wellbeing Plan 2026 to 2031 sets out how we will work with residents, community groups, businesses and government agencies to support the health and wellbeing of people who live, work and visit Fremantle.

This draft Plan has been developed under the Public Health Act 2016 and aligns with the WA State Public Health Plan 2025–2030, the City’s Strategic Community Plan and other key strategies. It reflects a whole-of-Council commitment to ensuring Fremantle remains a healthy, inclusive and liveable city.

The following action plan highlights a wide range of activities that can help realise the City’s public health objectives. The actions were developed from the public health priorities identified and are expected to be able to be completed within the life of the current plan: that is, by 2031. A reviewed plan, with new action items will be developed along with the public health needs/priorities of the City of Fremantle populace, at that time.

In many cases, the City is already conducting many of the actions listed in the Action Plan. There are some areas where the City may explore starting new initiatives or partnering with existing ones. In addition, some action items have been highlighted as being high-value items. All actions however are important, with much being aligned with the State Public Health Plan (as a requirement of the Public Health Act 2016), from the community priority setting workshop and/or being data driven. 

Their implementation is expected to be guided by resources, community priorities of the day and the State public Health Plan requirements.

At the 22 April Ordinary Council Meeting, during deliberation on item C2604-16 COMMUNITY HEALTH AND WELLBEING (PUBLIC HEALTH) PLAN 2026-2031, Council voted to request a number of amendments to be included for advertising along with the Plan.
