No, residency in Fremantle is not a requirement. As long as you have a strong connection to the area, that is sufficient.

The paid meetings will include sitting fees for the Ordinary Council Meetings (OCMs).

We strongly encourage all mentees to actively participate in all meetings. The level of effort and enthusiasm you invest will ultimately determine the benefits you gain. However, we understand that life happens, and unforeseen circumstances may arise. During the onboarding process, you will be provided with contact information to notify us of any absences.

By participating in the program, you can expect:

• The chance to have a direct impact on plans and strategies that affect your community.
• A deep understanding and experience of how social change operates within local government.
• The ability to enhance your resume by adding this mentorship as valuable work experience.
• Networking opportunities to connect with professionals in industries you are interested in, potentially leading to other work experience.

• Once applications have been assessed, and each successful candidate has been contacted, they will be invited to an onboarding session.
• During the onboarding, the engagement team and Youth Officer will provide a detailed overview of the mentorship program.
• Mentees will have the opportunity to introduce themselves, discuss their motivations for applying, and share their areas of interest.
