Consultation has concluded
The City of Fremantle is proposing to amend the 'Residential Streetscape' and 'Hilton Garden Suburb Precinct' planning policies. Feedback closes 8 October.
The objective is to reduce the amount of hard surfaces fronting the street and to encourage landscaping by retaining or adding new vegetation.
The following amendments are proposed for each policy:
LPP2.9: Residential Streetscape
Reduce the maximum permissible width of a driveway from 6 metres to 4.5 metres at the point where the driveway meets the road reserve, and to limit the number of crossovers to one per lot, except where a driveway serves 5 dwellings or more, the lot is a corner lot, or the lot has a large street frontage.
Where variations are permitted, a landscaping plan is to be submitted demonstrating high quality landscaping features to soften the impact of the additional hardstand on the streetscape appearance.
LPP3.7: Hilton Garden Suburb
Clarify the requirement that where two lots share a vehicle access point, such as with a common property driveway or easement, access to those lots is to be from the shared driveway. Additional crossovers or driveways will be permitted only in limited circumstances, for instance, where it is necessary to retain a place of heritage significance.
Where variations are permitted, a landscaping plan is to be submitted demonstrating high quality landscaping features to soften the impact of the additional hardstand on the streetscape appearance.
Amendments to both policies also include administrative changes to reflect current legislation.
