Solar Powered Speed Radar Devices
The City of Fremantle is installing two new Solar Powered Speed Radars for use on our local roads.
Funded as a road safety initiative the Solar Powered Speed Radars (Speed Radars) will be used for education and safe speed promotion in the community. The devices will be installed on a 3-6 month rotation at different locations across the Fremantle road network to maximise their effectiveness.
The first location will be Marine Terrace and Chester Street, with installation planned for mid February 2022. The City will engage with local residents on the upcoming locations.
Engaging with locals regarding future locations for the Speed Radars will also build awareness and help locate viable locations where speeding is perceived as an issue.
There will be some locations that are not viable due to jurisdiction issues, these include:
- Major roads such as South St, Stock Rd, Stirling Hwy
- Cul-de-sacs
- Multi-lane roads
- Roads within the Port area or Harbours – out of our jurisdiction.
Keep up to date with this page or subscribe to My Say Freo to find out when the engagement process will begin for future locations. If you have any questions about our Speed Radars please read the Q&A section (right of screen) or contact traffic engineering team on info@fremantle.wa.gov.au.
