Scheme Amendment Initiated
At its meeting on 24 July 2019, Council resolved to initiate a formal planning scheme amendment for the subject site. The amendment proposes a zoning on the site of ‘Mixed Use’ with a residential density of R80 (i.e. medium density), as well as associated building design controls in the planning scheme and a new planning policy. This decision marks the conclusion of the City’s preliminary assessment and consultation for this project, which has been ongoing since September 2018. The City will now prepare the relevant documentation in order to commence the formal scheme amendment process. This will involve referring the amendment proposal to the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) and the Western Australian Planning Commission (WAPC), before a fresh round of community consultation is undertaken on the proposed amendment.
