The proposed local law is being recommended for adoption, including a number of changes made as a result of community and State government feedback.

PROPOSED CHANGES

61 submissions were received during the comment period. The two main themes raised by respondents were concerns with the changes to parking on verges, and concerns with pay-by-phone only payment options.

An amendment has been proposed which would allow owners/occupiers of the premises adjacent to the verge (or an authorised person) to park a vehicle on the verge, but excludes 'long and heavy vehicles' such as buses and verge parking adjacent to grouped dwellings such as apartments.

Other amendments have also been suggested in response to comments from the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries, including the addition of provisions for special event parking and for urgent, essential or official functions.
