Fremantle History Centre

The Fremantle History Centre is more than just a reflection of Fremantle and East Fremantle’s past; it's a treasure chest of memories, knowledge, and insights that have shaped our vibrant community. At the Fremantle History Centre, we believe that the stories of our city should be accessible, celebrated, and cherished by everyone who lives, works, and plays in our city.

What are we doing?

We are embarking on an exciting journey, and we invite you to be a part of it. We're launching a public engagement program that seeks your insights, ideas, and aspirations for the future physical location of the Fremantle History Centre. We also want to understand what other opportunities and offerings we can include in the History Centre – for example an online platform to enhance the accessibility of the centre.

Your invaluable feedback will guide us in making informed decisions about the development and growth of this vital community resource.

Why is this important to you?

This engagement exercise is an opportunity for you to:

  • Share your passion for local history.
  • Reveal how you utilise our collections and what is important to you.
  • Discover the power of a history centre and how it can benefit the community.
  • Strengthen relationships within our community and highlight the community volunteer program and further lifelong learning opportunities.
  • Ensure that we meet your needs and desires.
  • Celebrate our local history collection and make it accessible to all.
  • Elevate the profile of heritage and history in Fremantle.

For more information please visit our FAQs section.

How can you get involved?

  • We encourage you to share your thoughts via the survey below prior to 1 February 2024.
  • You can also attend our upcoming information sessions (details under key dates)

Your input will help us shape the future of the Fremantle History Centre. Whether you're a history enthusiast, a professional, a property owner, an educator, or a lifelong learner, your perspective is invaluable. Join us in reimagining our history centre's role in both physical and digital spaces. Together, we'll create a hub that preserves, educates, and inspires.
