Amended Plan to Committee and Council

Feedback compiled

We've compiled your feedback on the draft Plan and made some amendments to the document. The report on feedback received is available from the document library or by clicking here. There were 9 submissions on the draft plan with 4 specifically stating it was good or important and 2 that it is standard remit / not above and beyond expectations. Submissions were received in different formats but were grouped around key themes. These were:

  • Built Environment and Lighting. Support for the proposed lighting strategy but continued concern over reporting and repair of faults (this is addressed in the plan). There was also support for greater urban design emphasis.
  • Stakeholders. Support for stakeholder partnerships such as attendance at key business events, with some requesting more ongoing support from WA Police.
  • Geographic Focus. Mixed responses on focus – some wanting a city centre specific focus and others reiterating the need for a more visible presence in the suburbs. There were also queries around resourcing.
  • Social and Developmental Domains. High level of support for social and developmental activities such as strengthening neighbourhoods, community participation, education and youth programs, and some requests for even greater focus in children and youth focus.

As well as amendments to the document to improve clarity, additions include a new action to create a homelessness plan for the City of Fremantle, to contribute to Fremantle Crisis Support Service brochure, increased focus on retail theft with local businesses and to apply for external funding as available.

You can download the final version of the Plan here or in the document library. Each action in the Plan has an area assigned for responsibility and will be reported on annually through the Corporate Business Plan.
