Community Values Survey Results

Over 300 people completed the community values survey in July/August 2016. The majority of respondents lived within a 10-15 minute drive of Leighton, Mosman or Port Beach.

What did we hear?
Through this survey we heard the two most important elements at these beaches are access to recreation opportunities (exercising, ocean recreation, dog access, fishing) as well as coastal amenity (beach access, views, natural vegetation).

Similarly, for 90% of respondents the loss of these two elements would negatively impact their way of life. See the results in graph 1 and 2 below.

Do these results reflect your values?
Please provide your feedback by 5pm Monday 27 February 2017.

What will the survey results be used for?
The next phase of the project will look at the most appropriate options for coastal adaptation. This will involve a detailed assessment, combining the technical risk assessment with the community values identified in the survey. For more detailed information on the technical assessment please see the Our Coastal Future project page.

Once this assessment has been completed a draft adaptation plan will be finalised and available for community comment on My Say Freo.
